University Service Center for Students with Special Needs (USCSSN)

USCSSN Establishment and Development:

In line with the State leadership’s unwavering commitment to supporting individuals with special needs, Sana’a University Presidency has been providing exceptional services to this esteemed student category. To streamline and unify the efforts of the existing centers dedicated to serving students with special needs, the University Rector issued Decision No. 38 of 2020, mandating the amalgamation of the University Development Center for Blind, Cultural Center for Blind, and University Educational Center for Deaf and Dumb into a single, unified entity: University Center for Students with Disabilities. Subsequently, Decision No. 85 of 1444 Hijri was issued to further refine the Center’s name to the University Service Center for Students with Special Needs (USCSSN).

Mission

To achieve leadership and excellence in delivering services by preparing highly qualified educational, professional, and research-oriented personnel in the field of special education, dedicated to providing educational, training, and cultural programs to empower students, individuals, and stakeholders involved in supporting individuals with special needs to contribute to the development of Yemeni society.

Vision

To excel with a leading role in providing educational and service-oriented experiences, thereby enhancing the educational opportunities for students with special needs in the Republic of Yemen.

Aims:

  1. To provide accredited graduate studies programs in special education, adhering to academic accreditation standards and quality assurance.
  2. To provide relevant stakeholders in Yemeni society with highly qualified personnel, possessing comprehensive education, academic proficiency, and professional competence in the field of special education.
  3. To spread awareness and disseminate knowledge through training and guidance programs tailored for individuals, families, and institutions engaged in supporting individuals with special needs.
  4. To assist students with disabilities and special needs through the provision of scientific, academic, research, and applied services and consultations.
  5. To develop positive and active partnerships with local and international stakeholders concerned with individuals with special needs.
  6. To leverage assistive technological and digital advancements to enhance services tailored for students with special needs.
  7. To implement early intervention strategies to reduce childhood disabilities by delivering educational, psychological, health, and therapeutic programs.
