Persian Language Unit<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

Importance of Persian Language and Teaching<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

The Persian language, characterized by its elegant structures, rich vocabulary, and ease of acquisition and teaching, belongs to the Indo-European language family. It utilizes the Arabic script for writing and is considered a regional language akin to the Turkish language due to its geographical proximity. Spoken by a diverse population exceeding a hundred million individuals, Persian is prevalent in countries like Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as in parts of Pakistan, India, and Turkey. It is taught in many regional universities including but not limited to Baghdad University, Kufa University, Damascus University, Yarmouk University, Alexandria University, Menoufia University, Lebanese University, and Sana’a University.<\/h4>

Establishment of the Unit<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

The Unit of Persian Language was established in the Department of Language Teaching at the CCTLT in 2020, with the primary objective of teaching Persian as a second language. In addition, the unit offers a proficiency program in Persian language.<\/h4>

Program Importance<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

The program’s importance lies in its historical, political, cognitive, cultural, and civilizational heritage linked to the Persian language within the local community of the Persian Gulf, the Arab world, the Middle East, and beyond, both regionally and globally. Learning Persian also provides an opportunity to understand the rich Persian literary traditions, poetry, diverse cultural and Sufi traditions and world-class films.<\/h4>
