First: Introduction<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

The Sana’a University Certificate of English Proficiency (SUCEP) program is one of the most important programs at the local, regional, and international levels, designed to cater to all students, particularly those pursuing postgraduate studies (Master’s and Doctoral). The program has emerged as a crucial prerequisite for admission to graduate programs, aimed at enhancing the quality of higher education. By equipping students with the necessary language skills, SUCEP empowers them to engage with global research and literature in their respective fields, thereby fostering innovation and ensuring the originality of their academic endeavors.<\/h4>

Given the growing global emphasis on English proficiency, especially in higher education, obtaining a standardized English language test such as TOEFL has become a common requirement worldwide, including Yemen and Sana’a University. As one of Yemen’s largest and most recognized public universities, Sana’a University is committed to implementing international quality standards and accreditation. Consequently, the university has mandated the TOEFL requirement for all postgraduate applicants to align with global best practices and elevate the quality of higher education.<\/h4>

As a prominent academic institution within Sana’a University, the Community Center for Translation and Language Teaching has been committed to providing the highest quality language education services, particularly in English. The TOEFL preparation program is a prime example of this commitment, designed to enhance the English proficiency of postgraduate students at Sana’a University and other Yemeni institutions. Over the past decade, the CCTLT has dedicated significant efforts to developing and equipping a state-of-the-art learning environment tailored specifically for TOEFL preparation, utilizing the latest educational technologies and resources to cultivate all aspects of English language competency among students and empower them to successfully achieve TOEFL certification.<\/h4>

Second: Program Aims<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

  1. Enhancing and ensuring the quality of higher education in accordance with international standards<\/h4><\/li>

  2. Qualifying teaching assistants and demonstrators in all faculties of Sana’a University.<\/h4><\/li>

  3. Qualifying graduate students at the Master’s and Doctoral levels or those aspiring to pursue postgraduate studies at any public or private Yemeni university.<\/h4><\/li>

  4. Qualifying undergraduate students from various departments across Yemeni universities who wish to acquire English language proficiency.<\/h4><\/li>

  5. Preparing high school graduates for university-level studies.<\/h4><\/li>

  6. Qualifying individuals interested in learning English.<\/h4><\/li>

  7. Qualifying students seeking admission to postgraduate programs at public and private universities to develop their English language skills.<\/h4><\/li>

  8. Improving the outcomes of the educational process and ensuring its quality, particularly in postgraduate programs.<\/h4><\/li>

  9. Meeting the needs of the Vice-Rector’s Office for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research in particular and postgraduate studies at the national level in general.<\/h4><\/li><\/ol>

    Third: Target Groups<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

    1. All students interested in enrolling in postgraduate programs at Sana’a University.<\/h4><\/li>

    2. All students interested in enrolling in postgraduate programs at other public universities.<\/h4><\/li>

    3. All students interested in enrolling in postgraduate programs at private universities.<\/h4><\/li>

    4. All students interested in enrolling in postgraduate programs abroad.<\/h4><\/li>

    5. Students from the faculties of Medicine, Engineering, Science, and Computer Science at the university.<\/h4><\/li>

    6. Any individual wishing to obtain a proficiency certificate for other purposes.<\/h4><\/li><\/ol>

      Fourth: Program Features<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

      1. It is an intensive program utilizing the latest educational methods and employing modern teaching strategies based on active and collaborative learning strategies.<\/h4><\/li>

      2. It equips learners with the necessary skills to pursue postgraduate studies at any Yemeni university and to be competitive in the job market.<\/h4><\/li>

      3. Upon successful completion, learners will receive a Certificate of Proficiency in English issued by the University of Sana’a, a renowned educational institution in Yemen.<\/h4><\/li>

      4. The program has been developed in accordance with local and international standards and programs, including:<\/h4><\/li><\/ol>

          • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) – University of Cambridge, UK<\/h4><\/li>

          • Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)<\/h4><\/li>

          • Proficiency Certificate from Ain Shams University, Egypt<\/h4><\/li>

          • English Proficiency Program, University of Aden, Yemen<\/h4><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>

            Sixth: Procedures for Enrollment and Obtaining the Proficiency Certificate<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

            Given that the Proficiency Certificate signifies a high level of English proficiency, qualifying the holder for admission to any postgraduate program, this program commences at the Pre-Intermediate level. Therefore, applicants must adhere to the following conditions:<\/h4>

            1. Applicants must undergo a placement test to ensure that they have passed the Beginner level, which consists of four courses.<\/h4><\/li>

            2. If an applicant does not pass the Beginner level, they must enroll in the courses of that level until they qualify and then take the placement test again.<\/h4><\/li>

            3. Upon passing the placement test, applicants will be placed according to their determined level. If they achieve an Intermediate level or above, they will be placed in that level.<\/h4><\/li>

            4. The applicant must undergo a comprehensive exam covering all levels specified in the program.<\/h4><\/li>

            5. The applicant will be awarded the certificate upon fulfilling all requirements.<\/h4><\/li><\/ol>

              Seventh: Program Activities<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

              The English Proficiency preparation program includes the following aspects:<\/h4>

              • Writing and rapid reading skills.<\/h4><\/li>

              • Developing speaking and listening skills.<\/h4><\/li>

              • Reviewing intermediate and advanced English grammar.<\/h4><\/li>

              • Reading academic articles with vocabulary and technical terminology assessments.<\/h4><\/li>

              • Methods for searching foreign academic articles and research.<\/h4><\/li><\/ul>

                Eighth: Study Hours<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

                The CCTLT offers a highly flexible study schedule, allowing students to choose between morning and evening classes to accommodate their individual needs.<\/h4>

                Ninth: Facilities, Equipment, and Educational Resources Available for the Program:<\/strong><\/h4>

                • A learning environment equipped with the latest scientific and technological equipment.<\/h4><\/li>

                • A well-equipped English language lab with the latest computers and software.<\/h4><\/li>

                • A comprehensive electronic library for English language resources.<\/h4><\/li>

                • Highly qualified and experienced English language instructors selected through a rigorous process in accordance with quality standards.<\/h4><\/li>

                • Comprehensive English programs that develop listening, speaking, and reading skills.<\/h4><\/li>

                • Grammar programs that explain important concepts in various easy-to-understand formats.<\/h4><\/li>

                • Advanced listening programs that rely on presenting real university lectures and presentations.<\/h4><\/li>

                • Pronunciation programs for training on sounds and pronunciation.<\/h4><\/li>

                • Up-to-date curricula and textbooks aligned with global language teaching standards.<\/h4><\/li><\/ul>

                  Tenth: Final Examination System for the English Proficiency (Local TOEFL) Program:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

                  First: Students wishing to enroll in the program:<\/strong><\/h3>

                  • Applicants must undergo a placement test according to the CCTLT’s established system.<\/h4><\/li>

                  • Upon passing the placement test, the applicant will be placed according to their determined level and is required to study the remaining courses specified in the program according to their specialization.<\/h4><\/li>

                  • After successfully completing the specified program courses according to their specialization, the student will take the final proficiency exam.<\/h4><\/li>

                  • The final proficiency exam scores for students enrolled in the program will be calculated based on the following weighting: 50% based on the grades obtained in the program courses and 50% based on the final proficiency exam score.<\/h4><\/li><\/ul>

                    Second: Students wishing to take the final proficiency exam directly without enrolling in the program:<\/strong><\/h3>

                    • Students may take the final proficiency exam directly without enrolling in the program upon payment of the specified fee determined by the committee.<\/h4><\/li>

                    • The final proficiency exam scores for students wishing to take the final proficiency exam directly without enrolling in the program will be calculated based on 100%.<\/h4><\/li><\/ul>

                      Third: Required Passing Grade for the Final English Proficiency Exam:<\/strong><\/h4>

                      The required passing grade for the final English proficiency exam is 65%. For postgraduate students (Doctoral program), the passing grade is 70%.<\/h4>

                      Certified Certificate Issued by the Program (Local TOEFL Certificate):<\/strong><\/h4>

                      • The certificate is issued by the Community Center for Translation and Language Teaching (CCTLT) at Sana’a University and bears the signatures of the authorized individuals as follows: the CCTLT Director (Committee Secretary), the University Rector (Deputy Chairman of the Committee), and the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research (Committee Chairman).<\/h4><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n
