The Department of Translation and Applications at the Community Center for Translation \u200e& Language Teaching (CCTLT) convened an academic seminar on Monday to discuss the Master\u2019s \u200eresearch proposal submitted by researcher Safaa Hassan Ali Al-Tayyar, entitled: \u200e<\/p>\n

\u200e\u201cInvestigating the Semantic Fidelity and Ethical Risks of AI-Generated Translations \u200eof Sana\u2019ani Dialectal Terms in Legal Deeds into English.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n

The seminar committee consisted of:

\n\u200e\u2022 Prof. Mujeeb Qasim

During the seminar, the researcher delivered a detailed presentation of her proposal, \u200eoutlining the research problem, objectives, and questions. She highlighted the growing \u200eimportance of both human translation and artificial intelligence technologies, particularly \u200ein the context of legal texts containing Sana\u2019ani dialectal expressions with precise legal \u200eand social implications.\u200e<\/p>\n

The researcher emphasized the importance of ensuring semantic accuracy and \u200eacceptability for target readership, while analyzing stylistic and semantic differences \u200ebetween human translation and AI-generated translation. She also addressed the ethical \u200erisks associated with the use of AI technologies in translating legal documents and \u200eexamined the ability of AI language models to preserve semantic fidelity when handling \u200eculturally specific dialectal expressions.\u200e<\/p>\n

The presentation further addressed the importance of evaluating the impact of such \u200etranslations from the perspective of native English speakers in order to identify semantic \u200egaps and potential legal or ethical risks. The researcher also stressed the continued need for \u200ehuman involvement in the translation process and called for the development of protocols \u200eand guidelines to regulate the use of artificial intelligence in this sensitive domain.\u200e<\/p>\n

At the end of the seminar, the academic committee discussed the proposal, commended \u200ethe researcher\u2019s efforts and her choice of a specialized topic of academic and practical \u200esignificance, and recommended approving the registration of the topic and proceeding \u200ewith the research process after incorporating the committee\u2019s scholarly observations.\u200e<\/p>\n\n
