Ms.<\/strong> Manar Ezzaddin Ali Al-Ahdal <\/strong>was awarded a Master’s degree in the major of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with an average of (Excellent<\/strong>) for her thesis titled “Microbiology of Tissue Reaction between Polytetrafluoroethylene Versus Silk Sutures after Surgical Removal of Bilateral Lower Impacted Third Molars in Yemeni Patients<\/strong>,” which was submitted to Faculty of Dentistry – Sana\u2019a University. The defense was held on Thursday, October 9, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The thesis aimed to<\/strong> compare the microbiology of the tissue reaction<\/strong> to Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sutures versus silk sutures after the surgical extraction of impacted mandibular third molars.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Key findings<\/strong> of the thesis <\/strong>included that the Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)<\/strong> suture material demonstrated a low capacity for bacterial adhesion<\/strong> and resulted in fewer post-operative complications<\/strong> compared to silk sutures.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The thesis <\/strong>concluded with several important recommendations<\/strong>, most notably:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Conducting studies on a larger sample of patients to achieve more precise results.<\/li>\n
  • Carrying out new studies using a novel scale to assess inflammation.<\/li>\n
  • Isolating and identifying both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria to determine their effect on surgical outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The thesis<\/strong> was examined and recommended by the MA Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, and interested individuals, in addition to the candidate\u2019s colleagues and family members.<\/p>\n
