Ms.<\/strong> Israa Haleem Mohammed Taha <\/strong>was awarded a Master’s degree in the major of Orthodontics for her thesis titled, “Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Elastic Chains Versus Elastics on Maxillary Canine Retraction: A Randomized Clinical Trail<\/strong>,” which was submitted to the Department of Orthodontics, Paediatric, and Preventive Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry- Sana\u2019a University. The defense was held on Thursday, October 23, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The study aimed to<\/strong> evaluate and compare the effectiveness of both elastic chains and elastics on maxillary canine retraction movement, angular tipping, and rotation clinically.<\/p>\n

The study <\/strong>reached several findings<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n

The elastics showed superiority in the rate of bodily canine movement, its angular tipping, and its rotation angle, compared to the elastic chains.<\/p>\n

The study <\/strong>concluded with several important recommendations<\/strong>, most notably:<\/p>\n

  • Conducting further studies to evaluate the long-term stability of both techniques over time.<\/li>\n
  • Using stainless steel ligatures to secure the archwire inside the bracket slot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The study <\/strong>was examined and recommended by the MA Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, and interested individuals, in addition to the candidate\u2019s colleagues and family members.<\/p>\n
