Mr. Wissam Abdulatif Jamoom \u200e<\/strong>was awarded a Master\u2019s Degree in Oral Medicine <\/strong>for his thesis titled: The Correlation between Blood Groups and Rhesus Factor with Periodontitis in a Sample of Yemeni People<\/em><\/strong>, <\/em>which was submitted to the Department of Oral Medicine, Periodontics, Diagnostics and Oral Radiology, Faculty of Dentistry \u2013 Sana\u2019a University. The MA defense was held on Sunday, December 28, 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The study aimed to investigate the potential relationship between different blood groups and the Rhesus (Rh) factor, on the one hand, and the prevalence and severity of periodontal diseases, on the other, in a sample of the Yemeni population, in order to determine whether certain blood groups are associated with increased susceptibility to these conditions.<\/p>\n

The study yielded a number of key findings summarized as follows:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Statistically significant differences were found between certain blood groups and the severity of periodontal disease.<\/li>\n
  • Some blood groups showed a higher susceptibility to advanced stages of periodontal inflammation.<\/li>\n
  • No strong association was identified between the Rh factor alone and disease severity; however, a possible combined effect of blood group and Rh factor warrants further investigation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    In light of these findings, the researcher recommended:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Conducting future studies on larger and more diverse samples to validate the findings.<\/li>\n
    • Considering blood group as a supportive factor in assessing the risk of periodontal diseases.<\/li>\n
    • Enhancing awareness of the importance of prevention and oral health care, particularly among groups identified as being at higher risk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
