Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed Abdu Haisam \u200e<\/strong>was awarded a Master\u2019s Degree in Orthodontics<\/strong> for his thesis titled: Evaluation of Smile Aesthetics in Orthodontic Patients Using Smile Curve Template<\/em><\/strong>\u200e<\/em><\/strong>, <\/em>which was submitted to the Department of Orthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry \u200e\u2013 Sana\u2019a University. The MA defense was held on Thursday, January 22, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The study aimed to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Assess the impact of orthodontic treatment on smile aesthetics using objective \u200eindicators (the Smile Curve Model).\u200e<\/li>\n
  • Compare professional clinical evaluations with patients\u2019 personal perceptions.\u200e<\/li>\n
  • Investigate the influence of variables such as age and gender, as well as key factors \u200econtributing to aesthetic improvement.\u200e<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Overall improvement in smile aesthetics was found, with the Smile Esthetic Index (SEI) \u200eincreasing from 1.36 to 6.30 after treatment.\u200e<\/li>\n
    • Tooth positioning recorded the highest improvement rate at 80%.\u200e<\/li>\n
    • Gingival papillae showed the lowest improvement rate at 40%.\u200e<\/li>\n
    • Patients\u2019 satisfaction level (7.3) was higher than orthodontists\u2019 evaluation (6.6).\u200e<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Based on these findings, the researcher recommended the following:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Conducting future studies on larger and more diverse samples to enhance the \u200eaccuracy and generalizability of the findings.\u200e<\/li>\n
      • Adopting dynamic imaging techniques (video) instead of static photographs to \u200eachieve more precise assessments of smile aesthetics.\u200e<\/li>\n
      • Considering individual anatomical differences when developing aesthetically oriented \u200etreatment plans.\u200e<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
