Ms. Asia Nadeem Mohammed Huwaireth\u200e<\/strong> was awarded a Master\u2019s Degree for her thesis titled: Evaluation of the Relationship between Tooth Shade and Skin Tone, Age, and Gender in a Sample of Yemeni Population in the Capital Secretariat, Sana\u2019a<\/em><\/strong>, <\/em>which was submitted to the Department of Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry \u2013 Sana\u2019a University. The MA defense was held on Monday, February 16, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The thesis aimed to:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Evaluate the relationship between tooth shade and skin tone, age, and gender in a \u200eYemeni sample from the capital Secretariat, Sana\u2019a, in order to strengthen the \u200escientific basis for selecting appropriate tooth shades in esthetic and restorative \u200edental treatments according to patients\u2019 individual characteristics.\u200e<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Within the limitations of the study, no statistically significant correlation was found \u200ebetween tooth shade and skin tone in the Yemeni sample.\u200e<\/li>\n
    • The most common tooth shade recorded for the maxillary central incisors was A3.\u200e<\/li>\n
    • Statistically significant correlations were found between tooth shade and both age and \u200egender.\u200e<\/li>\n
    • The study confirmed the reliability of the portable skin color sensor device (Model \u200eGP531, DEESS, China) by comparing its results with those obtained using the \u200etraditional Fitzpatrick Skin Test, demonstrating dependable agreement between \u200ethe two methods.\u200e<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Future studies should examine larger and more diverse samples in terms of skin tone to enhance the accuracy and generalizability of results.<\/li>\n
      • Additional research is needed to investigate the relationship between skin tone and other tooth types not included in this study, such as canines and lateral incisors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The defense session was attended by academics, researchers, students, interested individuals, colleagues, and the researcher\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
