Prosthetic and Orthotics Program at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University Receives International Accreditation and Recognition (ISPO)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sana’a – Dr. Khaled Al-Khamesy, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University, announced that th Prosthetic and Orthotics Program has received international accreditation and recognition from the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO). This program is considered the only one of its kind in the Middle East, and it is a significant achievement in the field of rehabilitation and compensation for individuals who have lost their limbs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A total of 35 male and female students from various governorates of the Republic of Yemen enrolled in the program, only 16 of them have successfully graduated with a specialist degree in the field. They were awarded the international certificate in addition to the university degree. The top-performing students have also been appointed as lecturers in the program at the Faculty with the hope of sending them for postgraduate studies in the field.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Al-Khamesy, expressed his great joy at this achievement, noting that obtaining international accreditation and recognition reflects the unlimited support from the university’s leadership, represented by its president, Dr. Qasim Mohammed Abbas, as well as the efforts of the faculty and the dedicated team involved in the development and implementation of the program. He also praised the role of the International Red Cross in supporting the program and providing the necessary assistance to achieve this success.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Prosthetic and Orthotics Program aims to provide comprehensive care for individuals who have experienced limb loss, whether due to accidents, chronic diseases, or amputations of hands and feet. The program includes a detailed assessment of individual needs, the design and manufacture of customized prosthetic limbs, and the provision of appropriate training and rehabilitation for patients.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is expected that this international recognition will have a significant impact on medical practice and scientific research in this field, as the program will be able to expand its services and enhance its ability to meet the needs of patients. It will also contribute to enhancing the faculty\u2019s international standing and making it an educational reference in the field of industrial compensation and rehabilitation in the region. It reflects the faculty\u2019s commitment to providing excellent medical services and modern rehabilitation techniques, thereby contributing to improving the health and well-being of the community.<\/strong><\/p>\n
