On Monday, 4th Sha’ban 1446 (corresponding to February 3, 2025), researcher Marwan Mohammed Hael Nasser was awarded a Master\u2019s degree in the Department of Microbiology, specializing in Medical Microbiology, from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Sana\u2019a University, for his thesis entitled:<\/p>\n

“Prevalence of Cytomegalovirus Among Solid Cancer Patients at the National Oncology Center in Sana’a.”<\/p>\n

The Thesis Examination and Evaluation Committee consisted of:<\/p>\n

Prof. Saleh Salem Bahaj \u2013 Internal Examiner and Chairman of the Committee (Sana\u2019a University)<\/p>\n

Assoc. Prof. Huda Al-Shami \u2013 Principal Supervisor (Sana\u2019a University)<\/p>\n

Assoc. Prof. Abdulrahman Al-Haifi \u2013 External Examiner (Dhamar University)<\/p>\n

The study aimed to determine the prevalence of cytomegalovirus (CMV) among solid cancer patients at the National Oncology Center in Sana’a. The findings revealed a high prevalence rate of 96.9% among solid cancer patients, with the age group 31\u201340 years being the most affected.<\/p>\n

In his thesis, the researcher presented several recommendations, including:<\/p>\n

Routine screening for CMV among cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.<\/p>\n

Screening of blood donations for CMV before transfusion to cancer patients.<\/p>\n

The thesis defense was attended by a number of academicians, researchers, students, and specialists, as well as colleagues and family members of the researcher.<\/p>\n
