Mr. Majdi Ali Al-Samad\u200e <\/strong>was awarded a PhD<\/strong> degree in Pharmacology <\/strong>for his dissertation titled: The Role of Gamma-Glutamyl Transpeptidase in Cisplatin- and Cyclophosphamide-Induced Nephrotoxicity in Experimental Animal Models\u200e<\/em><\/strong>, which was submitted to the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences\u2013Sana\u2019a University. The dissertation defense was held on Monday, April 20, 2026\u200e.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Evaluate the effects of Amlodipine and Acetaminophen on kidney function, oxidative stress, antioxidant levels, and histopathological changes in experimental animals.\u200e\u200e<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:<\/h3>\n

      Cisplatin induced severe nephrotoxicity, evidenced by significant elevation in kidney function markers and oxidative stress, along with a reduction in antioxidant levels, while Cyclophosphamide caused noticeable but less severe damage.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n

      Amlodipine demonstrated a protective effect on the kidneys by reducing oxidative damage markers and improving renal function, whereas Acetaminophen exacerbated kidney injury.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n

      Elevated levels of GGT were observed during chemotherapy treatment, indicating its central role as a contributing factor in drug-induced nephrotoxicity.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:<\/h3>\n

        Adopting preventive strategies to protect kidney function during chemotherapy in order to reduce drug-induced side effects.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n

        Exercising caution when using Acetaminophen concurrently with chemotherapy agents to avoid aggravating renal injury.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n

        Conducting further studies on the potential protective role of Amlodipine in preventing nephrotoxicity during chemotherapy.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
