Mr. Abdulnasser Saeed Ahmed Aqlan \u200e<\/strong>was awarded a Master\u2019s Degree in Pharmacology <\/strong>with an average of excellent for his thesis titled: Evaluation of the Gastroprotective Effect of Alogliptin and Carpobrotus edulis Extract on Indomethacin-Induced Gastric Ulcers in Rats<\/em><\/strong>, <\/em>which was submitted to the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences \u2013 Sana\u2019a University. The MA defense was held on Monday, May 11, 2026\u200e\u200e.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The thesis aimed to:<\/h3>\n

    Evaluate the potential gastroprotective effects of Alogliptin, Carpobrotus edulis extract, and their combination against indomethacin-induced gastric ulcers in rats.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:<\/h3>\n
      \n

      Pretreatment with Carpobrotus edulis extract, Alogliptin, and their combination significantly reduced the number and severity of gastric ulcers.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n

      The combination therapy demonstrated superior protective effects compared to monotherapy, restoring GPx and SOD enzyme activities and reducing MDA levels, indicating attenuation of oxidative stress.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n

      Histopathological examinations confirmed reductions in necrosis, erosions, and inflammation in gastric tissues.\u200e<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:\u200e<\/h3>\n

      • \n

        Investigating the gastroprotective effects in alternative ulcer models, including ethanol-induced and stress-induced ulcers, to confirm the reproducibility of the findings.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
      • \n

        Evaluating the protective efficacy of Alogliptin and Carpobrotus edulis extract in diabetic rat models to better simulate the target patient population.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
      • \n

        Examining whether chronically used medications possess intrinsic gastroprotective effects that could reduce the need for additional medications and lower treatment costs.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
