The Human Rights and Poling Center is organizing a training workshop for students of the Faculty of Media.

The Human Rights and Poling Center at the University of Sana’a organized a training workshop for second-year students in the Media Department of the Yemeni University, under the slogan “Enhancing Awareness and Knowledge in the Field of Public Opinion” on the 12th of this month, 2024.

The workshop aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the concepts of public opinion and its importance in society. The workshop, led by Dr. Mubarak Mohammed Al-Farah, included a practical (training) component that focused on several essential and vital topics related to public opinion, explaining the associated concepts.

The workshop centered on the concept of public opinion, its objectives, its divisions, and its essential elements. It also reviewed the most important tools for measuring public opinion, helping students understand how to gauge public views on various issues and their significance as a tool for social communication, as well as their impact on political and social decisions.

Additionally, topics concerning the pathways of the public opinion project were discussed. Dr. Al-Farah provided a detailed explanation of critical issues related to the pathways of the public opinion project, emphasizing the role of students as the voice of the public, particularly the necessity of understanding the tools and means used in this field. The workshop also focused on practical aspects and how trainees could benefit from what they learned through practical projects.

Furthermore, the workshop addressed conducting public opinion surveys effectively and the importance of the results obtained in guiding public policies.

One of the main topics was the role of the Center for Human Rights and Public Opinion Measurement. The workshop highlighted the center’s role and objectives in promoting legal and social awareness, as it serves as a beacon for research and studies related to human rights and public opinion.

Attention was drawn to the activities offered by the center, which include training programs and workshops aimed at raising awareness of human rights and enhancing civic participation, contributing to building students’ capacities and preparing them for the labor market.

The master’s program was a central focus as Dr. Al-Farah explained the master’s program offered by the center, emphasizing the importance of higher education in the fields of human rights and public opinion, and its effective role in preparing qualified personnel capable of contributing to human rights and public opinion areas. He discussed how it helps train and develop students’ skills and competencies to face challenges in this field.

The workshop concluded with significant positive interaction from the students, who showed great interest in the topics presented and expressed their gratitude for the valuable opportunity provided to them. They also affirmed their readiness to apply the concepts they learned in their future professional lives.

For its part, the center’s management praised the efforts made in enhancing knowledge and skills in the fields of public opinion and human rights.

This workshop is part of the center’s ongoing efforts to promote legal culture and public opinion among youth, significantly contributing to preparing a conscious and qualified generation capable of addressing societal issues and challenges effectively.
