Program Overview:

The Master’s program in Human Rights offered by the Center for Human Rights and Public Opinion Measurement at the University of Sana’a is the first of its kind among Yemeni universities and academic institutions. The program is available to holders of bachelor’s and license degrees from all disciplines.

The Graduate Studies Department aims to graduate qualified scientific competencies capable of working in the field of human rights with a high level of quality and excellence, contributing to the development of society.

The Program aims to:

  1. Introducing students to the theories, concepts, and basic applications related to human rights.

  2. Equipping students with the essential skills to practice human rights activities efficiently and effectively.

  3. Developing students’ capacity regarding the application of human rights frameworks locally, regionally, and internationally.

  4. Preparing researchers capable of conducting theoretical and applied research in the field of human rights and public opinion measurement.

  5. Developing students’ abilities to identify research problems and to address them scientifically and methodologically.

  6. Connecting the University with various community institutions by identifying their problems and providing scientific solutions to them.

  7. Providing the labor market with highly qualified cadres who are capable of achieving better results.

  8. Providing an opportunity for students who wish to continue their graduate studies in the field of human rights.

Admission Requirements

  1. The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree from a recognized university with a minimum GPA of “Good” (65%).
  2. The applicant must submit original graduation documents (graduation certificate + transcript) along with certified copies. If the documents are obtained from outside Yemen, they must be authenticated by the relevant authorities and attested by the Ministry of Higher Education. The original copy and a certified copy of the attestation must be submitted.

  3. A copy of the ID card (for Yemenis) and a copy of the passport and residence permit (for non-Yemenis).

  4. Recent passport-size photographs (4×6) with white background (12 photos).

  5. The applicant should apply for the admission file, complete the application form at the Graduate Studies Office and pay the required tuition fees.
