In a bid to strengthen applied training and bridge theoretical knowledge with professional \u200epractice, students of the Documentary Production course at the Faculty of Mass Communication, under the \u200esupervision of Dr. Mujeeb Al-Shamiri, have completed a series of purpose-driven \u200edocumentaries as part of the course requirements. The projects involved active student \u200eparticipation across all stages of media production.\u200e<\/p>\n
Although the topics of these works varied in terms of issues addressed and modes of \u200etreatment, the film \u201cDigital Trap\u201d stood out, generating wide resonance and notable \u200eaudience engagement because of its bold and significant handling of a contemporary issue \u200ethat directly affects individuals and society in the digital age.\u200e<\/p>\n
The film focuses on the profound influence of the internet and the virtual spaces on shaping \u200ehuman conduct and social relationships. It offers a rational, analytical reading of what has \u200ecome to be known as the \u201cdigital trap,\u201d steering clear of exaggeration and sensationalism, and \u200ethrough a documentary style that promotes awareness and encourages critical thinking.\u200e<\/p>\n
Majdi Yousef, publication officer for the production team, explained that the film was the \u200eproduct of long and intensive effort, passing through multiple stages including coordination, \u200eresearch, scriptwriting, filming, interviews, editing, voice-over narration, and poster design. \u200eHe emphasized that the project reflects an integrated educational experience aimed at \u200eproducing purpose-driven documentaries closely connected to reality.\u200e<\/p>\n
The film\u2019s director, Khaled Waleed Taleb, articulated the vision and intellectual messages \u200ebehind the work, noting:\u200e<\/p>\n
\u200e \u201cIn our digital age, our reality and personalities are being shaped in ways contrary to our \u200e\u200eintentions. The breakdown of many family and marital relationships stems from this very trap. \u200e\u200eIts victims include cases of murder, suicide, and other crimes. In short, our lives have become \u200e\u200ea passage from one internet maze to another. This is how we spend our time, and this is the \u200e\u200ejourney we portray in the film, but with greater awareness and deeper understanding, through \u200e\u200eanalysis of our emotions and the internet\u2019s impact on us.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n
\u200e\u201cDigital Trap\u201d represents a successful model of skill integration acquired by students of the \u200eFaculty of Mass Communication, as they participated in every aspects of production, from concept \u200edevelopment to final output. This project refelcts the objectives of the Documentary \u200eProduction coursework in preparing media professionals capable of addressing societal issues \u200ewith professional awareness and a scientific approach.\u200e<\/p>\n
