Sana\u2019a University Faculty of Mass Communication Hosts Workshop on Modern Teaching Strategies and AI Integration<\/p>\n

Faculty of Mass Communication at Sana\u2019a University held a specialized training workshop this Thursday titled “Teaching and Learning Strategies.” The event featured guest speaker and academic expert Dr. Aref Al-Hammadi, who explored modern pedagogical mechanisms designed to address the rise of Artificial Intelligence and the evolving learning behaviors of younger generations.<\/p>\n

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Omar Daer Al-Bukhaiti, Dean of the Faculty, who emphasized the university’s commitment to updating educational processes in alignment with national and international quality standards.<\/p>\n

“We are in a race against time,” stated Dr. Al-Bukhaiti. “The gap between traditional teaching methods and the needs of Gen Z and Gen Alpha is widening daily. Our goal is to transform the classroom from a space of rote instruction into an interactive environment where the student is a partner in creating media content, rather than just a passive recipient.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Huda Ali Al-Emad, Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, noted that the workshop is part of a broader modernization effort within the faculty. She highlighted that modern quality standards require a paradigm shift in the role of the professor.<\/p>\n

“Current standards dictate that we move from being ‘lecturers’ to ‘facilitators,'” Dr. Al-Emad explained. She added that the ubiquity of information through AI requires universities to focus on skill-based learning outcomes rather than the simple storage of information.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mahdi Haidar, Vice Dean for Quality and Academic Development, underscored that the initiative aims to empower faculty members to keep pace with the digital revolution and improve the overall academic performance of the institution.<\/p>\n

During the sessions, Dr. Aref Al-Hammadi presented a teaching philosophy rooted in motivation. He famously likened the role of a modern professor to “leading a horse to water and making it feel thirsty for learning.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Al-Hammadi identified a key challenge: while the current generation excels at multitasking, they often struggle with shorter attention spans. To counter this, he urged educators to adopt:<\/p>\n

– Utilizing fast-paced, visual media that mirrors the rhythm of “Reels” and short-form video content.<\/p>\n

– Flipped Classroom which is a strategy where students engage with content first and use class time for high-level discussion and interaction.<\/p>\n

– Active Coaching that encourages professors to act as “interactive coaches” who use body language and movement to maintain engagement.<\/p>\n

The workshop concluded with participants stressing the importance of continuous professional development to enhance the faculty’s competitive edge and academic accreditation.<\/p>\n
