First-year students at the Faculty of Mass Communication at Sana\u2019a University took part in a practical training session on television talk-show presentation, under the auspices of Dr. Khaled Omar. The activity was part of the practical component of the Yemeni Media course and aimed to develop students\u2019 presentation and dialogue skills while identifying and nurturing emerging media talents from the early stages of their academic journey.<\/p>\n
The training sought to integrate practical learning into the Yemeni Media course by transforming lessons and topics into television talk shows prepared and presented by students working in groups. This approach helps reinforce their knowledge while enhancing their ability to apply what they learn in a practical media setting.<\/p>\n
The activities featured a comprehensive simulation of television talk shows, with students taking on the roles of presenters and guests. The presenters focused on formulating and asking questions in a clear and fluent manner, with particular attention to proper Arabic, quality of delivery, and vocal clarity. The guests, meanwhile, provided coherent and direct answers centered on the main topic and aimed at maximizing the value of the discussion.<\/p>\n
Students also practiced key dialogue-management skills, including interacting with guests and moving systematically between different aspects of the topic. These exercises helped strengthen their ability to perform before an audience and provided them with valuable introductory experience in television presentation.<\/p>\n
Following the presentations, the participating students posed a number of questions to the audience to assess their level of engagement and determine how effectively the information had been communicated. This was followed by interactive discussions aimed at evaluating the students\u2019 performances and exchanging views, feedback, and observations.<\/p>\n
The activity aims to provide first-year students with an early opportunity to discover their media talents, develop their vocal delivery, presentation, and dialogue skills, and build self-confidence. It also seeks to familiarize them with the techniques of preparing and presenting television programs while helping them develop a confident and professional on-camera presence.<\/p>\n
