Sana’a University’s Faculty of Languages Holds Workshop to Review and Develop PhD Program Documents

Faculty of Languages at Sana’a University held a workshop on Monday morning to review and develop the PhD program documents for the departments of Arabic Language, English Language, and Translation. The event was sponsored by the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, and organized in collaboration with the Center for Development and Quality Assurance.
The workshop was facilitated by the trainer Prof. Abdulhameed Ashujaa and conducted in the Faculty’s Translation Lab. It was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Nasser, along with the Vice Deans, heads of academic departments, and a group of faculty members and specialized experts. Representatives from the job market, alumni, and the Center for Development and Quality Assurance were also present.
The trainer began the workshop by talking about the significance of the program specification document (PSD) and how it was developed by experts.
After that, the participants were divided into 3 groups based on specialization. They focused on the essential components of the program’s mission and objectives, learning outcomes, assessment strategies, and admission and graduation requirements. The program’s structure, benchmarks, and graduate profiles were also examined. Participants discussed the specific documents for each program individually, reviewing comments and suggestions for development before approving their final versions.
Attendees emphasized that the workshop represents a significant step in enhancing the Faculty’s postgraduate programs and strengthening its role in preparing competent researchers who will contribute to community service and meet the needs of the job market.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants developed a set of practical recommendations aimed at improving the PhD programs and their implementation mechanisms to align with modern quality standards and contemporary trends in higher education.
