The Public Viva-Voce Examination for the MA Thesis hereto entitled, Matching Requirment courses to labor market needs ,A case study of Microbiology Department, Hajja Faculty of Applied Sciences, submitted by Ms. Lara Abdullah Saleh Al.Aliei, Department of English, Faculty of Languages, was held on Wednesday 03\/06\/1446 Hijri corresponding to 4\/12\/2024. The study aimed at investigating to what extent English requirement courses taught at the Microbiology department, Hajja University, Yemen match labor market needs.<\/h4>

The study concluded with a number of findings, including, The findings of the study revealed that there was no match between the English requirement courses\u00a0 taught at the Microbiology department\u00a0 and the market needs. Although there was an ESP course, the course failed to satisfy students both academic and labor market needs. It was found that there is a lack of coordination between market needs and higher education institutions in terms of quantity and quality of English instruction.<\/h4>

The researcher made several recommendations \u00a0to English teachers as well as Microbiology Department to develop English courses and adopt new teaching materials and which should be\u00a0 coordinated continuously with the labor market to know their changing needs. Both student\u2019s academic and future needs should also be taken into consideration, as this would create strong motivation among students to succeed in their studies and be ready to join the labor market.<\/h4>

The MA thesis has been examined and is recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The Candidate was recommended to be awarded the degree of 95% majoring in English Language Studies(Applied Linguistics) with an overall grade of Excellent.<\/h4>

The viva was attended by academics, researchers, students, and other interested individuals, including the researcher’s colleagues and family members.<\/h4>
