The Public Viva-Voce Examination for the MA Thesis hereto entitled, \u201cThe Effectiveness of Using Communicative Teaching Approach on Raising Learners’ Comprehension of English Medical Terminology at Medical Institutions in Sana’a\u201d, submitted by Mr. Adulrahman Mohammed Mashof Al-Aslami , Department of English<\/em>, Faculty of languages<\/em>, was held on Wednesday<\/em>, 20\/08\/1446 Hijri corresponding to 19\/02\/2025. The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>

The study aimed to Investigate the effectiveness of using communicative teaching approach on raising learners’ comprehension of English medical terminology at Medical Institutions in Sana’a.<\/p>

The study concluded with a number of findings, including:<\/em><\/p>

  1. There was a significant difference between the posttest performance of the participants of the control and experimental groups regarding their language skills, favoring the experimental group.<\/li>
  2. The performance of the experimental group participants in the medical language skills was greatly developed, especially vocabulary as there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pretest and posttest, favoring the posttest scores.<\/li>
  3. The effect size of the program on the participants of the experimental group was higher than (0.56).<\/li>
  4. The questionnaire results revealed the experimental group participants’ high positive attitudes towards the program based on communicative teaching approach, in support of the effectiveness of the program.<\/li><\/ol>

    The researcher made several recommendations, including:<\/em><\/p>

    1. Communicative teaching approach is suggested to be implemented in teaching English medical terminology courses, especially in memorizing vocabulary of medical terms and practicing language skills.<\/li>
    2. English language programs, especially those of the medical departments in medical institutions, are suggested to think of using Communicative teaching approach as an effective method for teaching other different medical courses.<\/li>
    3. Since Communicative teaching approach has been reported effective for enhancing vocabulary, reading, and writing skills, curriculum designers should emphasize these areas. Incorporating targeted exercises that focus on medical vocabulary, reading comprehension of medical texts, and writing medical reports can further enhance these skills.<\/li><\/ol>

      The MA thesis has been examined and is recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The Candidate was recommended to be awarded the degree of MA<\/em> majoring in Applied Linguistics<\/em> with an overall grade of 95% Excellent. <\/em><\/p>

      The viva was attended by academics, researchers, students, and other interested individuals, including the researcher’s colleagues and family members.<\/p>
