Researcher Naseem Ali Ahmed Al-Wazeer has been awarded a Doctorate degree from the English Department, Faculty of Languages at Sana’a University for her dissertation titled: “A Comparative Discourse Genre Analysis of Legal Research Article Abstracts of Interdisciplinary Fields: Medical Law and Information Technology Law,” The Viva voce took place on Thursday, 17th of Dhu al-Qa’adah 1446 AH, corresponding to May 15, 2025 AD.<\/p>

The Viva committee consisted of:
* Prof. Hussein Ali Abdullah Mohammed Habtour – External Examiner – Aden University – Chairperson.
* Associate Prof. Abdulhameed Abdulwahed Alshuja’a- Supervisor – Sana’a University – Member.
* Associate Prof. Mujeeb Ali Murshid Qasim – Internal Examiner – Sana’a University – Member.<\/p>

The study aimed to find out the schematic structure and discourse markers of research article abstracts in two interdisciplinary legal fields: Medical Law and Information Technology Law.<\/p>

The study revealed several important conclusions, the most significant of which are:
* The existence of some statistically significant similarities and differences between the two interdisciplinary legal fields in the schematic structure and discourse markers of their research article abstracts.
* The results also show that the two fields align more with the writing style in pure science disciplines in their use of communicative discourse markers.
* Medical Law appears to resemble pure science disciplines, while Information Technology Law aligns more with humanities disciplines in its use of abstract schematic structure and interactive discourse markers.<\/p>

The study recommends the following:
* Curriculum developers should develop more specialized curricula, focusing on each of the discourse strategies.
* Researchers in interdisciplinary fields should adopt a balanced approach when writing abstracts, considering the objectivity characteristic of pure science disciplines and the subjectivity prevalent in humanities disciplines.<\/p>
