The dissertation defense was held on Saturday, September13, 2025<\/strong>.\r\n\r\nThe PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Tagaddeen<\/strong><\/td>\r\nInternal Examiner<\/td>\r\nSana\u2019a University<\/td>\r\nMember<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n<\/tbody>\r\n<\/table>\r\nThe dissertation aimed to analyze the experiences of oppression and resistance among Black women as portrayed by African-American author Yaa Gyasi in her two novels Transcendent Kingdom<\/em> (2020) and Homegoing<\/em> (2016), employing the framework of Black Feminist Theory.\r\n\r\nThe study concluded that Black women have endured exploitation, dehumanization, and marginalization in a world shaped by systemic racism and gender bias. However, Gyasi depicts these women not only as victims of structural oppression but also as agents of change, resisting these violations through self-development and spiritual endurance.\r\n\r\nIn light of these findings, the researcher proposed several key recommendations for future research, including:\r\n

  • Examining the works of other African-American feminist writers, such as Toni Morrison and Alice Walker, using Patricia Hill Collins\u2019 Black Feminist Thought as a theoretical framework.<\/li>\r\n \t
  • Applying alternative theoretical frameworks to Gyasi\u2019s Transcendent Kingdom and Homegoing, such as bell hooks\u2019 theory as presented in her work Feminist Theory: From Margin to Center.<\/li>\r\n \t
  • Conducting comparative analytical studies between Gyasi\u2019s writings and those of other contemporary African-American women writers.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nThe dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers,specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher\u2019s family.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
