Mr. Abdullah Hezam Abdullah Ubad <\/strong>was awarded a Master\u2019s Degree in Translation Studies <\/strong>with an average of excellent and a grade of (95<\/strong>) for his thesis titled: A Study of the Semantic Challenges Faced by Translation Students at Yemeni Universities in Translating English UN Humanitarian Terminologies into Arabic<\/em><\/strong>, <\/em>which was submitted to the Department of Translation, Faculty of Languages \u2013 Sana\u2019a University. The MA defense was held on Wednesday, Sha\u2019ban 23, 1447 Hijri, corresponding to February 11, 2026\u200e.<\/strong><\/p>

The study aimed to:<\/p>

  • Identify the semantic challenges faced by fourth-year translation students in Yemeni universities when translating United Nations terminology in the humanitarian context from English into Arabic.<\/li>
  • Assess the impact of these challenges on translation accuracy.<\/li>
  • Propose effective interventions to help mitigate these difficulties.<\/li><\/ul>

    The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:<\/p>

    • Translation students face considerable difficulty in dealing with the semantic complexity of United Nations texts.<\/li>
    • Many students struggle to accurately interpret contextual and connotative layers of meaning.<\/li>
    • These challenges limit their comprehension of specialized humanitarian terminology used by the United Nations.<\/li>
    • There is a noticeable deficiency in applying non-literal translation strategies.<\/li><\/ul>

      In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:<\/p>

      • Developing comprehensive and accessible databases of United Nations terminology.<\/li>
      • Providing specialized training focused on resolving semantic ambiguity and systematically applying non-literal translation strategies.<\/li>
      • Producing professional and concise Arabic texts to enhance overall translation effectiveness.<\/li><\/ul>
