The Faculty of Petroleum and Natural Resources at Sana’a University, in cooperation with the General Administration of Student Activities at the university, organized an applied scientific trip for second-year students in the departments of Petroleum Engineering and Earth Sciences and Mineral Resources, with the aim of enhancing the practical aspect of coursework and linking theoretical knowledge with field applications.<\/h3>\n

\u200bThe trip was supervised by a number of faculty members in the college, namely: Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Aidarous, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Akhalai, and Mr. Abdullah Al-Hiyani.<\/h3>\n

\u200bThe trip set off on the morning of Thursday, 7 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1448 AH, corresponding to August 20, 2026 AD, at eight o’clock in the morning, and included a number of geological sites within the range of Shibam Al-Ghras, Beit Dahrah, Naquil Ibn Ghaylan, and Khalaqah Nahm, while concluding its activities at four o’clock in the afternoon.<\/h3>\n

\u200bThe trip included the implementation of a number of activities and field studies, most notably studying geological and structural formations through practical application on rock outcrops, tracking contact surfaces, folds, and faults, in addition to training students on measuring strike and dip directions using the geological compass.<\/h3>\n

\u200bStudents also examined layers of sandstone and limestone, and learned about their physical properties, including porosity and permeability, and understood the ancient depositional environments of the successive layers.<\/h3>\n

\u200bThe activities also included training students on using Global Positioning Systems (GPS), determining coordinates, and linking field readings with topographic maps and geological maps and drawings.<\/h3>\n

\u200bIn terms of sample collection and documentation, students took representative rock samples of the various formations, and they were systematically documented in preparation for subjecting them to subsequent laboratory tests and studies in the college.<\/h3>\n

\u200bThe students expressed their thanks and appreciation to the leadership of Sana’a University for its continuous interest in scientific and applied activities, and its sponsorship and facilitation of the requirements of field trips, praising the organizational and logistical role provided by the University Student Forum, and the efforts of the faculty members supervising the trip, which contributed to its success and the achievement of its scientific goals.<\/h3>\n

\u200bThe students emphasized the importance of continuing to organize such scientific trips, given their importance as a vital opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge practically and develop their field skills related to their specializations in the fields of petroleum engineering and earth sciences and mineral resources.<\/h3>\n
