Wednesday, September 2, 2026 AD<\/p>\n

\u200bThe Faculty of Petroleum and Natural Resources at Sana’a University, in cooperation with the General Administration of Student Activities at the university, organized an applied scientific trip for first-year students in the departments of petroleum engineering, earth sciences, and mineral wealth, with the aim of enhancing the practical and applied aspect of the knowledge they receive within their courses and linking the theoretical side with direct field applications.<\/p>\n

\u200bThe trip was supervised by a number of academic and educational faculty staff members, namely: Professor Dr. Bassim Shaif Al-Kharbash, Professor Dr. Ahmed Ali Al-Aidroos, Mr. Safwan Al-Sami’i, and Mr. Khaled Al-Yana’i, who accompanied the students during various stages of the field visit and provided them with the necessary scientific guidelines and directions.<\/p>\n

\u200bThe trip set off on the morning of Wednesday, September 2, 2026 AD, and included a number of field stations and stops, starting near the Madhbah post office, where instructions and guidelines related to adhering to the trip program and safety procedures were provided, followed by field stops in the Al-Gharza area, after the Ablis market, the Thula area, and the summit area after exiting Thula, reaching Mount Hadhur, which represented the final station for the field stops.<\/p>\n

\u200bScientific axes and field applications<\/p>\n

\u200bThe field visit focused on a set of scientific and applied axes related to the students’ specializations, foremost among which is geological and structural study, by conducting practical applications on rock outcrops, tracking contact surfaces, folds, and faults, alongside training students to measure the directions of strike and dip using the geological compass.<\/p>\n

\u200bThe trip also included inspecting layers of sandstone and limestone, studying their physical properties, including porosity and permeability, and identifying ancient depositional environments that contributed to the formation of the successive rock layers.<\/p>\n

\u200bThe activities also included a practical aspect in surveying and coordinate determination, where students were trained to use global positioning system (GPS) devices and link field readings and data with topographic maps and geological drawings, enhancing their ability to deal with the tools and techniques used in geological and field studies.<\/p>\n

\u200bWithin the framework of sample collection and documentation, students took representative rock samples of various formations and documented them methodically in preparation for subjecting them to subsequent laboratory tests and studies within the faculty, achieving integration between field work and laboratory analysis.<\/p>\n

\u200bAt the conclusion of the trip, the students expressed their thanks and appreciation to the leadership of Sana’a University for the attention it pays to scientific and applied activities, and its keenness to provide and facilitate the requirements of field visits and trips that contribute to developing students’ skills and enhancing their practical knowledge.<\/p>\n

\u200bThey also praised the distinguished organizational and logistical role played by the University Student Forum, and its contribution to providing suitable conditions to ensure the safety and success of the trip, while appreciating the efforts of the supervising academic staff and what they provided in terms of scientific guidance and direction throughout the stages of the field visit.<\/p>\n

\u200bThe students affirmed their looking forward to the continuation and organization of such scientific and applied trips, due to their importance in covering the practical side of their courses, developing their field skills, and deepening their understanding of applications related to their scientific and professional specializations.<\/p>\n
