Today, Saturday 4\/7\/1446 AH, corresponding to 1\/4\/2025, a symposium was held entitled Health and Safety within the College of Science laboratories, which aims to enhance awareness of the importance of health and safety in the College of Science laboratories, and to emphasize that safety is not just an organizational procedure, but rather a moral duty. It is a collective responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all.
\nLaboratories are a vital place for education and scientific research, but they also contain risks that may affect the safety of workers and students if the correct procedures are not followed.
\nSpeaking at the symposium, Prof. Dr. Abeer Obaid, A.M.D. Ibtisam Al-Hamzi, A. Anwar Al Riyami.
\nIt focused on the most important steps and procedures that must be followed to ensure the health and safety of everyone, including:
\n1. Safety training: All employees and students must undergo comprehensive training courses on safety procedures and dealing with potential hazards.
\n2. Personal safety equipment: It is necessary to wear gloves, protective glasses, coats, and respirators at all times inside the laboratory.
\n3. Dealing with chemicals: Chemicals must be handled with caution, and instructions for storing and using them in safe ways must be followed.
\n4. Emergency procedures: It is necessary to know emergency exits and how to act in cases of fire or chemical accidents.
\n5. Regular maintenance: Ensure that equipment and devices are maintained periodically to ensure they work properly and safely.
\n6. Waste management: Disposal of chemical and biological waste in safe ways that comply with environmental laws and regulations.
\n7. Continuous awareness: Promoting awareness of the importance of safety through awareness workshops, publications and posters.
\nThis symposium is part of a series of security and safety lectures within the College of Science laboratories.
\nThe symposium was attended by faculty members, assistant faculty, male and female students from various levels and departments.<\/p>\n
