PhD researcher/ Bushra Abdul Aziz Mohammad Al-Samawi obtained a PhD with in the Department of (Social Studies) specializing in (Social Studies Curricula and Teaching Methods) College of (Education) at Sana’a University for her thesis entitled (The effectiveness of an enrichment program to develop preventive education concepts among third-cycle students of the basic education stage in the capital secretariat) on Thursday 3/2/1446 and 8/8/2024.
The discussion and judging committee consisted of Professor Dr. (Abdo Mohammad Al-Mutlas) as a main supervisor and a member of the committee, Professor Dr. (Ahmed Masoud Al-Hadi) as an external examiner and a head of the committee, and Professor Dr. (Abdul Salam Mohammad Al-Salahi) as an internal examiner and a member of the committee. The thesis aimed to know the effect of a program in developing preventive education concepts among third-cycle students of the basic education stage in the capital secretariat, while the thesis reached a number of results, including:
-There are statistically significant differences (at a significance level of 0.05) between the average scores of pupils of the seventh grade in the pre-application and the post-application to test the concepts of preventive education for the unit, in favor of the post-application.
-There are statistically significant differences (at a significance level of 0.05) between the average scores of pupils of the eighth grade in the pre-application and the post-application to test the concepts of preventive education for the unit, in favor of the post-application.
-The size of the effect was large for the proposed study unit in developing the concepts of preventive education, and this indicates the effectiveness of the experimental study unit.
The doctoral researcher presented a number of recommendations in her thesis, including:
-Those in charge of curricula in the Ministry of Education should include the experimental unit of preventive education concepts in the content of the social studies curriculum.
-A new vision should be presented in preparing training programs to develop concepts of preventive education for teachers before and during service at different stages of education to cover the shortage in this field.
The discussion was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, interested parties, and a number of the researcher’s colleagues and family members.
