Lecture on Academic Guidance and Psychological Counseling for Students of the Faculty of Science at the University of Sana’a
The Faculty of Science launched today, Saturday, September 14, 2024, in the hall of the late Thabit Al-Humaidi, in collaboration with the Center for Educational and Psychological Guidance at the university, the first lecture on Academic Guidance and Psychological Counseling for students of the Faculty of Science at the University of Sana’a.
During the inauguration, the Dean of the Faculty of Science welcomed the attendees, including Dr. Abdul Khaliq Handah Khamees, Deputy Director of the Center for Educational and Psychological Guidance at the University of Sana’a, the vice deans, department heads, members of the Academic Guidance Committee, faculty members and their assistants, and students.
The Dean praised the large turnout and the special interest shown by everyone and emphasized the importance of educating students about academic and psychological guidance. He urged students to take advantage of these lectures and enrich them with meaningful discussions.
Dr. Abdul Khaliq Handah Khamees then began the lecture, which focused on the following topics:
First:
– Discussing the concept of academic guidance.
– The vision, mission, and objectives of academic guidance.
– The responsibilities of academic advisors and those involved in academic guidance.
– Academic guidance programs.
Second:
– Psychological guidance, psychological support, and the mental health services provided by the psychological guidance center for university students.
– The psychological, educational, and academic problems facing university students.
Third:
– Opening the floor for discussion and questions from the attendees on various psychological, behavioral, and academic aspects.
He also emphasized the importance of organizing and managing students’ time in a way that aligns with their university studies and daily lives. He stated that the Faculty of Science is the first and leading college in launching academic guidance lectures at the university, urging all colleges to pay attention to the psychological aspect of students and to help them address the challenges they encounter during their educational journey.
The lecture included an introduction to the academic advisors in each department of the faculty and guidance for students to refer to them whenever they face any issues.
Students expressed their happiness and benefit from the lecture, calling for the faculty to intensify such lectures that guide students in their university journey.
This lecture comes within the framework of the academic standards, institutional support, and quality that the faculty seeks.
