Sana’a University’s Faculty of Agriculture Hosts Thamar University Students for Academic Field Exchange

The Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment at Sana’a University recently welcomed junior-level students from Thamar University’s Departments of Crops and Genetic Improvement and Horticulture and Technology. Organized in coordination with the University Student Forum, the field visit aimed to strengthen academic collaboration between Yemeni universities and bridge the gap between theoretical coursework and practical application.
Throughout the visit, students toured the Faculty’s specialized educational and research facilities, including:
– Horticulture & Greenhouse Technology: Students explored the ornamental plant nursery and landscaping units, viewing student-led production models and current research trials utilizing modern greenhouse technologies.
– Plant Propagation & Tissue Culture: The group visited the fruit nursery to observe plant propagation techniques and toured the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory, receiving detailed demonstrations on sample processing, sterilization, and media preparation.
– Agronomy & Soil Sciences: The tour continued to the Department of Crops to view active research fields, followed by a visit to the Department of Soil Sciences for briefings on advanced laboratory equipment used in applied geological and agricultural studies.
The visiting delegation was received by several distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Jalal Kulaib (Crops), Dr. Adel Al-Hejami and Ms. Ilham Arraf (Horticulture), and Mr. Faisal Al-Yateem (Soil Sciences).
By providing direct exposure to cutting-edge agricultural technologies and diverse research environments, the visit successfully enhanced the students’ practical expertise and broadened their academic horizons within the field.
