As part of the “General Animal Physiology” course for third-year students majoring in Animal Production, the Department of Animal Production carried out a practical activity aimed at enabling students to identify the anatomical structures of sheep and link them to vital physiological functions, within the context of comparative anatomy of farm animals.
The activity sought to solidify students’ scientific and practical understanding through direct practical dissection of sheep. It included identifying external anatomical features and a detailed study of the vital body systems, including: the digestive system with its ruminant components, the respiratory system and its mechanism, the circulatory system through the heart and blood vessels, the urinary system and its excretory functions, the male and female reproductive systems and their role in reproduction, in addition to the central and peripheral nervous systems and their regulatory functions. The activity also included anatomical comparisons between sheep and other types of farm animals to enhance comparative understanding and develop practical skills.
The activity was supervised by Dr. Khalid Al-Maqtari, with the participation of teaching assistant Amani Hassan Muqbel in the field supervision. Students were trained on scientific dissection methods in accordance with academic and ethical standards to achieve the course objectives and enhance their practical competence in the field of animal production.<\/h3>
