As part of their Summer Training curriculum, third-year students from the Department of Food Science and Nutrition recently completed a technical field visit to the SAM Mineral Water Plant in Sana’a. The delegation was led by Dr. Mutahar Shaiban and Dr. Adnan Al-Qubati.
Located in Hadda district\u2014an area renowned for its pristine environment\u2014the SAM facility is recognized as one of the region\u2019s most modern plants, utilizing advanced technology in the production and purification of mineral water.
During the site visit, students toured the advanced extraction and bottling facilities. They observed firsthand the rigorous quality control (QC) protocols implemented at every stage of production to ensure compliance with both local and international safety standards. The tour also covered the various production lines, focusing on the specialized processes for packaging drinking water in multiple sizes.
The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with practical insights into the mechanisms of mineral water production. By witnessing industrial quality assurance procedures in action, students were able to enhance their understanding of large-scale manufacturing and bottling phases within the food and beverage industry.
Faculty members noted the plant’s exceptional commitment to hygiene, organizational efficiency, and the integration of cutting-edge technology. Furthermore, the facility demonstrated a strong emphasis on occupational safety and environmental sustainability.
The visit concluded with a discussion on strengthening the partnership between the University and the SAM Mineral Water Plant. Key recommendations included expanding practical internship opportunities for students and establishing a pipeline for future career placements for graduates within the food manufacturing sector.<\/h3>
