Students from the Department of Land, Water, and Environment at Faculty of Agriculture recently completed specialized laboratory applications in water and soil analysis as part of their Summer Training Program. The sessions were conducted under the supervision of faculty members Mr. Abdulrahman Abu Hassan and Ms. Khawla Mohammed Abu Hassan.
The primary objective of these applications was to equip students with the essential practical skills required to assess water and soil quality. Through various physical and chemical analyses, students gained hands-on experience in measuring:
\u2022 pH levels and Electrical Conductivity (EC).
\u2022 Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).
\u2022 Nutrient concentrations and organic matter content in soil samples.
\u2022 Soil texture and composition.
The training also emphasized rigorous scientific methodologies for sampling and preservation to ensure data accuracy. Beyond the lab bench, students were trained to interpret complex data sets, linking their findings to real-world agricultural and environmental scenarios to determine the suitability of water for irrigation and soil for cultivation.
Program supervisors highlighted that these practical activities serve as a critical bridge between theoretical coursework and professional application. By mastering these techniques, students are better prepared for the labor market in fields such as water resource management, land reclamation, and environmental quality monitoring.
These sessions are vital for fostering sustainable agricultural development. Participating students expressed high levels of engagement, noting that the training significantly sharpened their technical laboratory skills and deepened their understanding of scientific applications within their major.<\/h3>
