Third-year students from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension recently concluded a specialized summer internship program at the Central Statistical Organization (CSO), held from April 22 to April 29, 2026. This program provided students with a critical opportunity to gain hands-on experience and apply theoretical knowledge to professional statistical work.
Throughout the internship, students explored the vital role of the CSO as a cornerstone for evidence-based decision-making and development policy-making. They gained insights into how accurate data and statistics serve various sectors, with a particular focus on the agricultural industry.
The curriculum emphasized practical application, featuring intensive training in data management and analysis. Students utilized Microsoft Excel to input and organize statistical data and master complex formulas. Additionally, the program introduced students to SPSS software, where they performed descriptive data analysis, significantly enhancing their scientific approach to data handling.
The training also covered the System of National Accounts (SNA), focusing on its conceptual framework and importance in measuring economic performance. Students examined diverse data sources and analyzed the agricultural sector’s specific contributions to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
This initiative reflects the department\u2019s commitment to bridging the gap between classroom theory and professional practice. By equipping students with these essential skills, the program prepares a qualified workforce ready to meet labor market demands and contribute effectively to national development.<\/h3>
