As part of efforts to strengthen practical training and connect academic knowledge with \u200ereal-world applications, students from the Department of Horticulture and Technologies \u200econducted a field visit to the greenhouses dedicated to the production of local seeds \u200ebelonging to Suhul Yemen Foundation, located at the General Directorate of Plant \u200eProtection. The visit was organized within a scientific training program supervised by \u200eProf. Hassan Al-Dubai, Professor of Plant Breeding, Improvement, and Seed Production.\u200e
During the visit, students explored the latest technologies used in the production and \u200eimprovement of vegetable varieties. They also learned about plant hybridization \u200emechanisms and modern scientific methods for producing local seeds aimed at \u200edeveloping high-quality, high-yield crop varieties that are resistant to environmental \u200econditions and agricultural pests.\u200e<\/h4>

The program included practical training on self-pollination and cross-pollination \u200etechniques in several vegetable crops. Students participated in hands-on applications \u200einvolving tomato and cucumber crops, where they learned about isolation procedures, \u200epollination techniques, and genetic control in plants. They also observed the evaluation \u200estages of hybrid varieties within greenhouses and specialized nurseries.\u200e<\/h4>

In addition, students had the opportunity to examine several locally developed varieties \u200eof zucchini, cucumber, and tomato crops, and to learn about the scientific standards used \u200ein evaluating varieties in terms of productivity, fruit quality, tolerance to environmental \u200econditions, and suitability for the local market.\u200e<\/h4>

The visit highlighted the importance of field-based education in preparing qualified \u200eagricultural professionals, as it provides practical experience that enhances students\u2019 \u200eapplied skills and strengthens their ability to connect theoretical knowledge with practical \u200eapplications in the agricultural sector.\u200e<\/h4>

At the end of the visit, the students of the Department of Horticulture and Technologies \u200eexpressed their appreciation to Prof. Hassan Al-Dubai for his scientific efforts and \u200econtinuous commitment to advancing students\u2019 practical training. They also extended \u200etheir thanks to the General Directorate of Plant Protection and Suhul Yemen Foundation \u200efor their warm reception and for providing valuable practical knowledge and experience \u200ethat enriched the students\u2019 academic and applied learning.\u200e<\/h4>
