SANA\u2019A, YEMEN \u2014 July 20, 2026 \u2014 Senior students in the Department of Horticulture and Its Techniques at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment have initiated field preparations for a comparative scientific trial as part of their “Protected Vegetable Production” course. The initiative reflects the faculty\u2019s ongoing commitment to integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application in modern agricultural instruction.
The fieldwork involved readying both a controlled greenhouse environment and an open-field plot to conduct a comparative study evaluating growth indicators and overall productivity across multiple vegetable crops. Students are investigating crop performance under regulated microclimates within the greenhouse as compared to natural field conditions outdoors.
This hands-on application is designed to equip students with essential scientific and field skills for designing agricultural experiments, monitoring crop phenology, and analyzing environmental impacts on crop development. The practical exercise bridges foundational principles with modern field techniques, preparing students to evaluate controlled agricultural ecosystems effectively.
The activity is conducted under the supervision of course instructor Dr. Essam Al-Madhaji, alongside Teaching Assistant Ilham Araf, who guide students through experimental setups and data collection protocols to meet the course’s academic learning objectives.
Through these applied field activities, the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment reaffirms its dedication to cultivating qualified agricultural specialists. By combining research-backed methodologies with practical experience, the college aims to support sustainable agricultural development and bolster local food security efforts.<\/h3>
