Public MA Viva-Voce Examination of Ms. Amna Abdullah Ahsan Ali Al-Hamran, from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities – Sana’a University

Ms.Amna Abdullah Ahsan Ali Al-Hamran has successfully awarded the MA Degree majoring in Quranic Interpretation and Sciences with an outstanding score of 95% and received high honors, along with a recommendation for the publication and dissemination of her thesis across universities, from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities – Sana’a University. Her thesis titled “Aqood Al-Aqiyan fi Al-Naskh wa Al-Mansukh Min Quran by Imam Al-Mahdi Deenallah Mohammed Bin Al-Mutahhar Bin Yahya Bin Al-Hadi (Died 728 Hijri) from the Beginning of the Manuscript to the End of Part One: A Study and Verification, ” was defended on Thursday, Sha’ban 29, 1446 Hijri, corresponding to February 27, 2025.
The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
1. Prof. Mahmoud Al-Ghazali, External Examiner, Hodeidah University, Chair.
2. Prof. Mohammed Al-Makhdi, Internal Examiner, Sana’a University, Member.
3. Huda Ali Al-Imad, Main Supervisor, Sana’a University, Member.
The primary objectives of the thesis were to:
1. Enrich the Quranic library with a comprehensive study that benefits scholars and researchers,
2. Produce an accurate text of the manuscript in a new format, making it accessible to both researchers and readers,
3. Introduce the significant work of Imam Mohammed bin Al-Mutahhar bin Yahya (d. 728 AH), highlighting his scholarly contributions to the interpretation of abrogating and abrogated verses in the Holy Quran,
4. Clarify the methodological approach employed by the author in elucidating the merits of various chapters of the Quran.
In her research, the scholar identified several key findings, including:
1. The diversity of interpretative efforts concerning the Holy Quran, reflecting a profound interest in its study,
2. The substantial contributions of Zaidi imams, as well as other jurists and scholars, in the realm of Quranic interpretation,
3. The notable impact of Yemeni scholars on various Islamic disciplines, particularly in Quranic exegesis,
4. The author’s extensive engagement with “Hibat Allah Abi Al-Qasim” regarding abrogating and abrogated verses, particularly in reference to Meccan and Medinan contexts within the first part of her study,
5. The book “Aqood Al-Aqiyan fi Al-Naskh wa Al-Mansukh Min Quran” is characterized by its rich scientific content, incorporating numerous references, including prophetic hadiths and poetic citations.
The Viva-Voce was attended by several academics, researchers, students, and several colleagues and family members of the researcher.
