Social Work Students Host Prophet’s Birthday Event at Al-Shafaqa and National Cancer Control Foundations

As part of their field training and practical application program, fourth-year female students from the Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Sana’a University—under the supervision of Ms. Fadia Zayed—hosted a celebratory event for the Prophet’s Birthday (Al-Mawlid Al-Nabawi) at the Al-Shafaqa Institution for Kidney Failure and Cancer Patient Care and the National Cancer Control Foundation. The initiative aimed to strengthen the practical application of their discipline and develop students’ capabilities in social and community work.
The event featured several activities and programs designed to commemorate the occasion, bring joy to the beneficiaries, and promote values of solidarity, compassion, and cooperation, reflecting the humanitarian and societal role of social work within community organizations.
The students actively participated in planning and executing the event and its accompanying activities. This hands-on experience allowed them to gain practical skills in event planning, organization, and direct engagement with beneficiaries, effectively translating their academic knowledge and skills into real-world practice.
This initiative forms part of the field-based training conducted by the Department of Social Work to bridge academic instruction with practical application, build students’ capacity to fulfill professional social work roles, and reinforce values of social responsibility, volunteerism, and humanitarian service.
The successful implementation of this event highlights the commitment of the Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities to enhancing field training, providing students with opportunities to acquire professional skills and expertise through active engagement in community and humanitarian activities.
