The Fourth National Conference on Volunteering and Voluntary Work has successfully concluded its proceedings at Sana’a University
Held under the auspices of the Prime Minister Mr. Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi and centered around the theme “Together for Change and Building: We Volunteer to Serve Our Society,” the event was organized by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Social Work Department at Sana’a University, the Care and Rehabilitation Fund for the Disabled, the Agricultural Cooperative Union, the Bunyan Development Foundation, the Yemeni Red Crescent Society, civil society organizations, and various volunteer initiatives. The conference took place from December 29 to December 31, 2024, in Gamal Abdel Nasser Hall within the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at of Sana’a University.
At the conclusion of the conference, participants put forth several recommendations aimed at enhancing volunteerism. Among these was a call for expanded partnerships and collaboration among all entities involved in volunteering and voluntary work, including government agencies, civil society organizations, the private sector, and individual volunteers.
Additionally, participants advocated for the design, implementation, and promotion of an electronic platform dedicated to volunteering and volunteer work. This platform is intended to facilitate the registration of volunteer opportunities and available volunteer efforts among all relevant stakeholders—government bodies, civil society organizations, the private sector, and community members.
The recommendations from the conference also emphasized the necessity of establishing a structured legislative and legal framework to support volunteering and voluntary work initiatives.
