Public PhD Viva-Voce Examination of Mr. Abdulrahman Ahmed Abdulmajeed Al-Majidi, from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities – Sana’a University
Mr. Abdulrahman Ahmed Abdulmajeed Al-Majidi has successfully awarded a PhD in Islamic Studies, majoring in Islamic Thought, from the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at Sana’a University. His dissertation, entitled “National Values in Islamic Thought and Their Role in Fortifying Society”, was defended on Thursday, Rajab 16, 1446Hijri, corresponding to January 16, 2025.
The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
1. Prof. Adel Saleh Al-Faqih, Internal Examiner, Sana’a University, Chair.
2. Prof. Sa’eed Mohammad Al-Haddad, Main Supervisor, University, Member.
3. Prof. Abdullah Mohammad Al-Falahi, External Examiner, Ibb University, Member.
The primary objective of the dissertation was to elucidate the significance of national values such as patriotism, the responsibility of defending one’s homeland, promoting unity, optimizing resource utilization, and fostering security and stability within society.
The researcher identified several key findings in his study, notably that love for one’s homeland and a sense of belonging are innate instincts supported by various texts and traditions. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding the homeland from both physical and moral corruption.
In addition, the researcher proposed several recommendations, highlighting the necessity for the state to regulate societal systems effectively. He advocated for the activation of laws grounded in sound ethical principles and authentic sources, encouraging public adherence to these guidelines.
The Viva-Voce was attended by several academics, researchers, students, and several colleagues and family members of the researcher.
