Public PhD Viva-Voce Examination of Mr. Abdulrahman Abdulrahman Mohammad Al-Ahdal, from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities – Sana’a University
Mr. Abdulrahman Abdulrahman Mohammad Al-Ahdal has successfully awarded the PhD degree from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities at Sana’a University, majoring in Principles of Jurisprudence. His dissertation, entitled “The Impact of the Purposes of Islamic Law on the Rulings of Human Necessities,” was defended on Wednesday, the 29th of Rajab, 1446 Hijri, corresponding to January 29, 2025.
The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
1. Ibrahim Suleiman Ahmed Haidara, External Examiner, Ibb University, Chair.
2. Prof. Adel Saleh Ali Al-Faqih, Main Supervisor, Sana’a University, Member.
3. Prof. Mutia Mohammad Abdu Ahmed Shabalah, Internal Examiner, Sana’a University, Member.
The primary objective of the dissertation was to elucidate the influence of Islamic law objectives on the determination of provisions related to human necessities. The dissertation yielded several significant findings, including the potential for multiple interpretations of legal texts and the crucial role that objectives play in shaping Islamic jurisprudence. In addition, the researcher offered several recommendations within the thesis, advocating for the consideration of Islamic law objectives in light of new developments and contemporary issues.
The Viva-Voce was attended by several academics, researchers, students, and several colleagues and family members of the researcher.
