Master’s Degree Awarded to Mr. Mohammed Hussein Essa in Islamic Studies

Mr. Mohammed Hussein Abdullah Issa was awarded a Master’s degree with a grade of Excellent, for his thesis titled “A Compilation of the Holy Quran’s Exegesis as Interpreted by the Pure Imams – From the Beginning of Surah Al-Mumtahanah to the End of Surah Al-Muddaththir – Compiled by Abu Musa Al-Abbas bin Mansour bin Musa Al-Khattabi: A Study and Investigation,” which was submitted to the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts and Humanities – Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, corresponding to Safar 27, 1447 Hijri.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following members:

The thesis concluded with several key findings:

The book, “A Compilation of the Holy Quran’s Exegesis as Interpreted by the Pure Imams,” is considered one of the most important and earliest works of exegesis.

Imam Al-Hadi is a prominent figure in Islamic thought and a unique intellectual school.

Imam Al-Hadi’s methodology for Tafsir (exegesis) relies on explaining the Qur’an by the Qur’an and referencing the Arabic language.

This specific commentary revealed important intellectual, doctrinal, educational, and social insights.
Based on these findings, the thesis recommended:

Greater attention to the study of heritage in general, especially the legacy of the Imams of Guidance from the Ahl al-Bayt.

Expanding the study of Imam Al-Hadi’s interpretive methodology and comparing it with other commentaries.

Completing the investigation of the book and working toward its publication.

Digitizing manuscripts of Yemeni scholars from libraries worldwide to ensure the preservation of this scholarly heritage and make it accessible to researchers.
