PhD Degree Awarded to Ms. Nabiha Ali Al-Hammadi

Ms. Nabiha Ali Mohammed Al-Hammadi was awarded a PhD degree for her dissertation titled, “The Role of Social Media Networks in Enhancing Information Awareness among Postgraduate Students at Sana’a University,” which was submitted to Department of Libraries and Information Science, Faculty of Arts and Humanities – Sana’a University. The PhD dissertation defense was held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

This study aimed to investigate the actual role of social media networks in enhancing information awareness among postgraduate students at Sana’a University.
The study reached several important findings, the most significant of which are:

The study sample confirmed the importance of social media networks in supporting research and academic activities.

Respondents preferred using library-specific social media networks to obtain information.

The study revealed that the majority of the sample viewed obtaining information in their field of specialization as the main goal of their social media usage.

The research affirmed the significance of both social media networks and search engines in supporting scientific research and higher education.
The study presented several key recommendations, including:

Encouraging the use of social media and search engines to support scientific research and higher education.

Utilizing social media networks to promote academic events and activities.

Enhancing the role of social media networks in supporting the research and academic activities of students and researchers.

Promoting balanced engagement in social media usage among users.
The PhD dissertation was examined and recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The PhD defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, interested students, the candidate’s colleagues, and family members.
