About the Faculty

Humanities studies at Sana’a University began with its establishment in 1970, under the umbrella of the Faculty of Education, which admitted its first batch of students the same year. The initial number of enrolled students in that year was 64, with the Arts department comprising 12 students. In 1971, a new college was established, which included the departments of arts, education, and sciences. Subsequently, in 1973, the Faculty of Arts was established as an independent institution within Sana’a University, comprising five departments: Arabic language, English language, History, Geography, and Social Sciences. This significant year also marked the graduation of the first group of nine students. Since then, the Faculty has experienced remarkable growth, expanding to encompass twelve specialized fields.

The Faculty’s commitment to academic excellence has extended beyond undergraduate studies to offer postgraduate programs in the field of Arts and Humanities, which allows dedicated graduates to pursue postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees.
