Public PhD Viva-Voce Examination of Mr. Salah Ali Ahmed Al-Sarihi, from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities – Sana’a University<\/h3>\n

Mr. Salah Ali Ahmed Al-Sarihi has been awarded his PhD Degree from Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Sana’a University, majoring in “Interpretation”. His dissertation, titled “Comparison and Contrast in the Discussions of Quranic Sciences by the Two Imams, Samaani (d. 489 AH) and Hakim Jashmi (d. 494 AH) in their Exegesis from the First Surah Al-Fatihah to the Last Surah Al-An’am: A Comparative Study Model, ” was successfully defended on Thursday, 7 Sha’ban 1446 Hijri, corresponding to February 6, 2025.<\/h3>\n

The primary objective of the dissertation was to analyze the interpretative methodologies of two prominent scholars: Imam Al-Samaani, known for his work titled “Interpretation of the Qur\u2019an,” and Imam Al-Jashmi, recognized for his interpretation entitled “Politeness in Interpretation.” The study aimed to elucidate their individual scholarly characteristics while examining points of convergence and divergence in their interpretations of the Holy Qur\u2019an, specifically from Surah Al-Fatihah to Surah Al-An’am.<\/h3>\n

Through his dissertation, Mr. Al-Sarihi identified several significant findings, notably that both Imams Al-Samaani and Al-Jashmi exhibited agreement in the majority of their interpretations of the Noble Qur\u2019an, with differences arising in only a few instances. Furthermore, it was noted that the two scholars did not frequently engage in interpretative disputes.<\/h3>\n

In conclusion, Mr. Al-Sarihi offered several recommendations, including a call for further scholarly investigation into the hadiths and narrations referenced in the works of both Imams, particularly among researchers majoring in Hadith sciences. He also emphasized the importance of fostering interest in comparative interpretation within academic institutions and mosques.<\/h3>\n
