Prof. Mahmoud Saeed Al-Ghazali <\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"138\">\n<h3>External Examiner<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"141\">\n<h3>Sana\u2019a University<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"70\">\n<h3>Member<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>The dissertation aimed to<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Introduce the two Imams Abu al-Fath al-Daylami and Abu al-Hasan al-Mawardi and examine their exegetical methodologies.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Analyze their points of agreement and divergence in Quranic readings, reasons for revelation (asbab al-nuzul), tradition-based and opinion-based exegesis, linguistic analysis, and legal interpretations.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>The <\/strong><strong>dissertation reached several key findings, including:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>The study analyzed 244 exegetical issues, finding 147 points of agreement between the two imams.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Imam Al-Daylami had 8 unique interpretations, while Imam Al-Mawardi had 89.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Al-Daylami\u2019s commentary was concise, whereas Al-Mawardi\u2019s was more expansive.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Both scholars emphasized Quranic readings, contextual revelation, and a balanced approach between narrated and rational exegesis.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>While linguistic analysis was central to their methodology, they limited extensive legal discussion (tafsir al-ahkam) primarily to Surah Al-Nur, as their works were primarily exegetical rather than jurisprudential.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>The dissertation recommends the following:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Further research on apparent-meaning exegesis and its impact on juridical preference in the two scholars\u2019 works.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>A specialized study on their agreements and divergences in Quranic sciences.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>An investigation into their exegetical principles as demonstrated in <strong><em>Al-Burhan<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Al-Nukat wa al-\u2018Uyun<\/em><\/strong>.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>The inclusion of comparative and analytical tafsir in graduate curricula to enhance students\u2019 proficiency in the field.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The <strong>PhD dissertation<\/strong> was examined and recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval.
