In a move to foster academic collaboration among Sana’a University faculties, second-year students from the Department of Architectural Engineering – Faculty of Engineering undertook a field visit to the museum of the Department of Archaeology and Tourism at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. This trip, organized as part of their coursework, aimed to familiarize students with archaeological and architectural artifacts that document Yemen’s rich history.<\/p>\n

The students were welcomed by a delegation of faculty members, including Prof. Abdulmalek Mohammed Issa, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities; Prof. Abdulhakim Shaif Mohammed, Head of the Department of Archaeology and Tourism; Mr. Ali Miqdam, Faculty Secretary; and Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Alee, the museum’s curator. Dr. Al-Alee provided a detailed explanation of the museum’s contents, which span from the Neolithic period, through the historical ages, and into the Islamic eras.<\/p>\n

His presentation also covered ancient Yemeni architecture, from its beginnings in simple settlements during the Neolithic era (6000\u20134000 BCE) to the large agricultural cities of the Bronze Age (3200\u20131200 BCE). The talk concluded with a discussion of the flourishing capitals of the ancient Yemeni kingdoms, highlighting their urban planning and architectural advancements, as well as the influence of geographical, environmental, and economic factors on the diversity of architectural styles.<\/p>\n

Prof. Abdulmalek Mohammed Issa expressed his gratitude to the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, for his encouragement of such collaborative initiatives. He also praised the field visit for its role in connecting theoretical knowledge with practical application and enhancing students’ awareness of the importance of heritage preservation. Prof. Issa extended his thanks to Prof. Abdullah Ahmed Al-Maswari, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Dr. Abdulraqib Taher, the course professor; and all the participating students.<\/p>\n

The contributions of the instructors and collaborators from the Department of Archaeology and Tourism, including Dr. Hassan Lotfuddin Al-Rassas, Mr. Mohammed Ali Mohammed Arish, and Mr. Mi’sar Hussein Mohammed Atfan, were also recognized for their efforts in making the activity a success.<\/p>\n
