Preparing qualified teachers and educators, and fostering educational research to serve the community

Department of Class Teacher

Academic Programs

Class Teacher

The "Class Teacher" department was established at the Faculty of Education, Sana'a University, during the 2013/2014 academic year. This initiative was launched to meet the Ministry of Education's need for teachers who are academically and pedagogically qualified to address the shortage of instructors for "Class Teacher" courses across the various schools, institutes, and centers in the Republic of Yemen. The first cohort graduated in July 2017. By 2021, four cohorts had graduated from the department, with a fifth cohort currently nearing graduation. - The department provides instruction to Faculty of Education students, covering courses tailored to the specific needs of early primary grades—including numeracy, literacy, and child development characteristics—as well as classroom interaction, the development of speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, and the design, production, and use of educational materials. Additionally, the department offers training and consultancy services to schools, institutes, and various centers across the Republic. - The department contributes to the development of pedagogical expertise regarding early primary education—including its practical applications within the educational process—for faculty members and their assistants, as well as the broader educational community, through annual seminars and exhibitions.
