Researcher Sawsan Qaid Naji Al-Shara’abi has been awarded a Master’s degree with honors in International Development Studies from the Inclusive Research Development Center (IRDC) at Sana’a University, for her thesis titled “Vocational Maturity and its Relationship to the Future Aspirations of Language Students at Sana’a University.”<\/p>\n

The Viva voce took place on Monday, May 26, 2025 and the examiners committee consisted of: Prof. Abdusalam Ahmed Al-Hakimi, external examiner and committee chairperson. Dr. Abdul-Wahab Yahya Abdul-Qader, supervisor, and member; and Dr. Sukaina Ahmed Hashem, internal examiner and member.<\/p>\n

The study aimed to explore the relationship between vocational maturity and the future aspirations of language students at Sana’a University, in light of the rapid social and economic transformations and changes in the labor market.<\/p>\n

The study reveals several key findings, most notably: the level of professional maturity among language students is low, as is the level of their future aspirations. The results also show a positive and statistically significant correlation between professional maturity and future aspirations. The study indicates statistically significant differences in both professional maturity and future aspirations attributable to some demographic variables such as gender, academic level, academic achievement, and parents’ education level.<\/p>\n

The study suggests several recommendations, the most prominent of which are: the necessity of activating career guidance programs in universities, that promote student awareness of the importance of early career planning, and provide sources of professional information that help them build realistic future visions.<\/p>\n

The Viva was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, interested individuals, and several of the researcher’s colleagues and family members.<\/p>\n
