Mr. Abdulsamad Ali Ahmed Al-Banoos Al-Mutawakkil \u200e<\/strong>was awarded a PhD<\/strong> degree in International Development\u00a0 <\/strong>for his dissertation titled: Strategic Leadership and Its Relationship to the Level of Reconstruction in Yemen in Light of Sustainable Development\u200e<\/em><\/strong>, which was submitted to the Inclusive Development Research Center \u2013 Sana\u2019a University. The dissertation defense was held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 \u200e.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:<\/p>\n

The dissertation aimed to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Analyze the role of strategic leadership in achieving sustainable development through reconstruction and recovery programs in Yemen, with application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/li>\n
  • Examine leadership practices in light of post-war challenges and the need for effective leadership to support reconstruction and development efforts\u200e\u200e.\u200e<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Strategic leadership is practiced at a high level within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/li>\n
    • There is a statistically significant correlation and impact between strategic leadership, sustainable development, and reconstruction requirements.<\/li>\n
    • Sustainable development explains a substantial proportion of the variance in achieving reconstruction requirements.<\/li>\n
    • The overall effect of strategic leadership increases when sustainable development acts as a mediating variable.<\/li>\n
    • The environmental dimension contributed most significantly to achieving reconstruction requirements, followed by the social dimension, then the economic dimension.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The findings underscored the importance of integrating strategic leadership with sustainability principles to build an effective national reconstruction model.<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:\u200e<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Strengthening strategic leadership in government institutions through leadership development and enhanced decision-making processes.<\/li>\n
      • Emphasizing strategic orientation as a key dimension of leadership in supporting reconstruction.<\/li>\n
      • Integrating sustainable development dimensions into reconstruction plans, with priority given to environmental sustainability.<\/li>\n
      • Adopting economic and social policies that promote community participation and support small-scale projects.<\/li>\n
      • Positioning sustainability as a central pillar in national strategies.<\/li>\n
      • Developing a national model for sustainable reconstruction based on informed leadership and good governance.<\/li>\n
      • Ensuring continuous monitoring and evaluation of reconstruction projects to ensure effectiveness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
